Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | In a sense there really is no official dust cap for the large AMP connector that Ag Leader uses and often just hangs out the back of the cab unprotected in the off season.
What came with mine was a "regular" plug that was intended to be used with wires but was repurposed as a dust cap by using a plug and back shell filled with potting material. This gets to be a fairly expensive method of creating a dust cap but does work.
Some type of a dust cap should be used since the large terminals deal with high current power and ground so there is the possibility that they could short out. Also the inner terminals deal with the CAN communication which would be best if they were protected.
We use the repurposed plug that Ag Leader provided and store it in the tractor's command arm while planting. When we are finished planting, we know where the plug is to reinstall it. |
