Subject: High stubble discbine mowing

Southern Ohio
I'm looking into getting a new to me disc mower, but undecided on brand. It would be for hay mowing and pasture clipping.

I have a Gehl disc MOWER (Basically a Kuhn). It was used when I got it but I didn't do it any favors and did a lot of clipping with the bar off the ground and eventually the bar broke. I also found myself using it to cut hay more than my NH 1431 discBINE mostly out of convenience.

The 1431 is well used and I'm sending it down the road.

I'm pretty familiar with the New Holland bar and I think I'd like to get a NH discmower with the same bar as the discbine and then get me some of those high stubble shoes to raise the bar off the ground for when I'm doing regular mowing/clipping where I want the cut to be higher than shaving the ground. Does anybody else do this? You also might be asking why not clip with a batwing? Well, I don't have a batwing only have a 5 foot bushog and would rather spend the money on a nicer, "all-purpose" mower. :)

Shoot me some thoughts and ideas.
