Subject: Inflation - planning for it

Glasgow, Ky
As SC has mentioned, along with many others on this site, the Fed is going down the path of stimulating the economy with cheap interest and increased money supply. It appears that we are going to see double digit inflation in the near future. We are already seeing significant increases in prices received for grain along with corresponding price increases in land, equipment, fertlizer, fuel and other inputs. The long term health of many operations will depend on understanding the implications that inflation will have on the ag sector and overall economy of our country.

What specific steps can each of us take to improve our profitability in inflationary times as well as protecting our operation when the Fed takes steps (higher interest rates?) to fight inflation? Prime considerations need to be the magnitude of inflation the Fed will allow along with the length of time before addressing the problem.
