Subject: Case IH 1200

I am contemplating switching to a 1200 planter for next spring. We now have a JD, but before that had an IH cyclo.

My concern is mud building and plugging inside the opener discs. On the old 800 we had problems with mud building up inside the openers and causing them to stop turning. Is that still a problem with the opener discs? I have some fields that are very black and sticky (not because they are wet, it's just a soil type that stays sticky until about the 4th of July) and I'm worried it might plug the openers. All fields will be fall chisel plowed (or DMI rippered) and have one plass with the field cultivator in the spring.

Any comments, please (or other issues with the 1200 planter). Were going to put 1200 row units on a front fold bar. No high pivot thingy for me.

Thanks!
