IL | The Explorer was F (ound) O(n) R(oad) D(ead) yesterday on the way home from church. Wife was not happy, as I was not home yet. No power to turn it over. Hauled it to the local shop, and the Alternator was bad. Brushes had worn off and into the Alternator shaft. (replaced 4 yr old battery while we were at it). First alterntor from Auto zone had a ticking sound. mult-meter showed it was charging, but the battery idiot light was still on. decided to return alt and get a another one. (lifetime , short, warrenty). Now it runs quiet, but the idiot light is still on the dash. Question is, is there a code to clear out?. just want the light off.
