G'day from down under! Posted some time back re converting VHS tapes to mpg4 files. My wife has a large number of VHS tapes - and the old technology is going [or gone] out of date. We have purchased a device that downloads the VHS tape as it plays, and converts it. I currently have the program loaded on an old laptop, running Winidows XP,. The idea being that it would be a dedicated set up for the conversion process. It loaded up, and with the VHS tape running, I had both sound and picture on the Laptop. Clicked 'record' and thought all was well. Sometime later, located the saved file, and was disappointed to find I had sound and a swirling image, not a clear image as was showing as I recorded. Maybe the technology does not 'get along' with the old Win XP. OK - I'll try loading it onto my Win10 laptop! Problem is I thought I saw in the instructions to "turn off" all anti virus and firewall programs. As the old laptop is no longer internet connected, I just deleted them. The Win10 one IS internet connected, so how do I go about temporarily disabling "Bullguard" and "Norton 360" programs while I install the "Cyberlink Power Director 12" and then re-instate them? Thanks in advance for your usual help - NAT'ers |
