Kansas | Hypathetical (sp) but nevertheless I'm curious what alls thoughts are on this.
These are the Facts of the case. Car 1 has an expired 30 day tag on it. Expired by two weeks. Person driving has a revoked drivers license, so in other words, same as no drivers license.
Now.............
Cop says to driver that they will give police escort from house A: to house B: within the same small town city limits provided driver of car 1 has a valid drivers license. Driver of car 1 says they do......when in fact they dont.........and cop does not verify this fact before doing said deed. Cop says it ok car not licensed to go that far if he gives it escort. It is unknown at this point if Car 1 has insurance on it or not and what level of insurance.
Pickup 1 runs through an intersection and hits car 1: Pickup 1 did not run a stop sign but did go through intersection with bad timing and hits car 1: Damage at time unknown to car 1: Pickup needs 99 cent can of Krylon to touch up bull gaurd up front for damage and find two new rubber pads for the mounting.
Who's liable and for what?..........why?..............merely hypothetical, at this point.
I have my own thoughts but I don't want to taint the scenario right away with them. Would like to hear others with average law knowledge to see what they think. I also realize from state to state things would vary but nevertheless, I'd like to hear your thoughts.
