4450 was blowing antifreeze out the radiator at startup. Didn’t see anything wrong with the head gasket and didn’t see any cracks on the head and no water in the oil. Took it to the machine shop and they mag the head and said it was fine but had some swirls and needed machined. When I picked it up talked to the engine head specialist and it was his thinking the head gasket was the problem. Put the engine back together and started it tonight and everything was fine. Guess I need to learn how to read a head gasket better. It did look a lot different after they cleaned it up though. Next question is why I have problems with head gaskets. 12.9 head bolts torque to 75 pounds then 95 then torque turn 90 degrees in the pattern Deere recommends |
