With the new house last year we bought a new Bosch unit. Was a bit pricey, around $600, but as long as you use good soap it is awesome! We found using the soap they recommend gives the best results and as far as pre-rinse- never, whatever the dog misses goes in. It's really quiet also and very energy efficient, city even gave me $100 for upgrading.
