| Wasn't that the era of PIK certificates? I remember local grain elevator owner flying farmers to SD to cash in or however that all worked. Also the year CRP started I believe. Absolutely farmed for government program payments. About then we decided to make an honest living and pretty much quit row cropping and expanded custom haying business and selling horse hay. Found a guy with contracts for small hay bales to go to Denver zoo and some animal research facilities that could take about all we could produce. A lot of work every day it wasn't raining all summer but a way to survive. | |
