West of Mpls MN about 50 miles on Hwy 12 | I was 14 years old. I remember times being pretty good in 1979. I bought my first new snowmobile with profits from growing soybeans by renting a pretty poor 40 on shares from a widowed neighbor lady. That was my first crop. Buying gas for my new sled was no big deal because gas was $0.85/gallon.
BTO neighbors were buying/rolling 7720s, 4440s, and 8640s in groups of three...or six at a time. One of the same BTOs bought two brand new W-900 Kenworths and Wilson grain trailers...supposedly paid cash. |
