Ya i too wonder about the anti land buying crowd of farmers, how they acquired theyre land base, easy to say lands too just expensive if you've never had to buy it in order to have a living farming.
Have yet to hear an old timer say 'i wish i had bought less land", they always tell me they wish they had bought more.
I can name 7 good neighbors that all wished that they hadn't bought so much land in the 1970's..All 7 got foreclosed on in the mid 1980's and never farmed again..2 more neighbors got huge write downs that saved them...High interest coupled with 7 bad years in a row from 1980-86 lead to this..Crop insurance didnt amount to much back then...In the 1980's land fell from $1,000 acre back to $500 per acre..Now its back up to $4,500-6,000 per acre..
