At the moment the spring price for insurance guarantees a better price than $2.50. The new crop is bid higher by almost .40 cents. Why is everyone so worked up? Sure it is not on %100. but if it goes lower, you get a big Gov. check. You also can forward contract the other %20 percent not covered by insurance. Dec corn today is $4.73 minus your basis.
