i believe there were a couple of years in the mid 30s that had droughts close together in time, as well as a couple years in the 1970's, and I can remember 1983 and 1988 both being bad droughts-so it seems like droughts can occur just a few years apart. 2024 or 2025 could be very dry and hot. we just don't know what the weather will be.
