Navarre, OH | With the price of beans falling, and the risk of double crop beans in our location, I am thinking about trying a forage crop after our wheat harvest. I have a local beef producer who buys majority of our excess forage, and at an extremely fair price. This crop will be wet baled and wrapped. Just curious what my best options are for tonnage and quality. We have planted triticale and rye in the fall, and mowed and wet wrapped in the spring, before corn or beans, but never done a forage crop planted into wheat stubble. This crop would be ideally be planted early/mid July and then mowed in late September early October. Any ideas or thoughts are appreciated. | |
