EC SoDak | I get to see the tonnage numbers, so I tend to believe them. One I work very closely with, we try to push a bit on some fields. Typically it’s fall draglined manure. Although one of the dairies typically will do some spring time manure as well, which I don’t love, but it’s how it goes. One of them puts on just a little more than you need, so 12-16k gallons, the other normally puts on a little bit more than that. Depending how all the ground is in rotation, I’ll be COC for 3-4 years, then rest a year with soybeans. The fields a few miles away may only be used to rest some other ground, so you’d be COC 2 years, then beans or just your normal CB rotation. But manure is always required if it’s going to be chopped. | |
