EC SoDak | That makes sense. I suppose if your tonnages are at 68% and use 8 for the yield faxtor, that’s gets you to an average of 144 bu/ac. Does that fit your grain corn for the area or do you only do silage?
Generally my stands can get a little weak because it’s my first planted when it’s cold and then if you get a cold snap, some will leaf out underground. My manure comes via dragline hose and manure ponds, which is nice to get it in the ground right away. During these dry years my tonnages have mostly gone down, generally in that 24-26 ton range @68%. I did have some ground that missed the early August rain that dropped down to 21-23. Otherwise normal conditions, field averages tend to be 27-30, really decent years they can get in that 30-33 range. It is important to note though, my silage ground tends to be some of my better/heavier ground which certainly helps with my tonnages.
