Have you ever put something on financial statements that I or someone else would value differently than you? How do you come to a value for your land and equipment that you put on your financial statements?
When Farm Credit was trying to do an anal exam on my financials, they questioned the value of the high moisture ground shell corn I had in a bag. It's been several years but I think it was like if cash corn was $4 I had $3.75 on it. They said that they've seen auctions where those who are interested get together and buy the whole 150 ton bag for $300 or something.
I told him that could be the case with anything on that asset list and if you are going to scrutinize my numbers to that degree why did you bother having me put a value on anything?
That's when the crickets started, |
