East Central Illinois. 39.346676, -87.653484 | The future of production ag looks terribly bleak in my opinion. A multitude of operations willing to work for pennies just to have control of a larger footprint. Generations of bright/skilled/studious young people leaving the farms, because there's no opportunities tomorrow, never to return.
Vertical integration will become more and more prevalent in every sector of food & fiber production.
There will still be hobby farms, but generational traditional farms will be mostly gone in another generation.
Who knows what technology will be available and/or what legislation will do to the current status quo... |
