sw ontario | Only 2 large solar farms that I know of ,the Solar company bought the land. I ask same questions about wind turbines, why don't they buy the farm or 25-50 acres and build as land is the cheapest part of the project.
Like others posted , are the companies scared of clean up costs later,liability,property taxes or something else ?
In Ontario there are many small single or double solar panels owned by farmers and property owners as for a while they paid something like 80 cents kwh. subsidy for 20 yrs....Now wind towers and solar are basically mkt. price so not much to be made.
Most leases never get exercised put put together and resold...same as energy projects,often sold to investment firm | |
