Go look up EITC among other programs.


+1, I didn't get into the property tax / home heating credit available here in Michigan, where folks are getting government subsidy (Section 8 is one of them) that might pay some or all their rent/heating. Some are eligible for a 'refundable' credit the part of their rent that is counted towards property tax/heating, even though the government (remaining taxpayers) is paying all the cost(s).
