The Southwest has been in a drought for about the last 20 years. In the area I grew up in, there's a lot of hayfields that are going back to sagebrush. Way less snowpack and runoff than historically. Most of those ranches were established in the wettest years in recorded history, been downhill ever since...sad to see.
