Subject: RE: Are high wage earners paying enough taxes?

Columbia Basin, Ephrata, WA

I sometimes get a little miffed that low earners pay no or negative income taxes, but remind myself that the reality is everyone pays too many taxes. Everything everywhere is taxed. If it’s not a tax, it’s a fee. Sales, property, gas, hotels, rental cars, insurance, permits, tolls, on and on, everything has a tax attached to it. These things can end up being a large portion of a low earners pay. High earners won’t feel the sting of those smaller taxes, but they get hammered with income taxes, overinflated healthcare costs to cover the non-payers, and estate taxes.

Bottom line is everyone pays too much, the government squanders it so we all receive too little, so both the rich and poor blame each other for not paying enough, and the government just raises taxes more.
