North Dakota | When I was young(mid 1970’s-early 1980’s) there were fighter jets stationed at Minot Air Force Base and it was a common occurrence to have them break the sound barrier. The windows in the house and China in the China cabinet would shake and rattle violently.
In the summer of 1988 I was at UND doing an archaeological survey just south of the Grand Forks Air Base. The Blue Angles were there and doing practice runs most of one day. Never forget watching them on lunch break and having them sweep over us with afterburners engaged at times. They were the most powerfully majestic machines working in unison this farm boy had ever seen. Felt it in your chest all the way through your cojones to your feet. | |
