I was 37. Dad died of a major stroke at 85. His father died in a tractor rollover at 68 when dad was 41.
Dad had sold me everything, lock,stock and barrel 10 years earlier. He helped me out a great deal in the first few years but never tried to tell me how to farm as we were moving into conservation tillage. He's absolutely the only reason I was able to get a start at farming.
