We have the most progressive tax system in the world. Low income peeps literally pay nothing in terms of federal income tax or most healthcare.

Now I'm not a fan of the state property tax system because it relies on the mistaken assumption that just because you own ground you are making money every year. Looking at states such as CO and FLA it is enviable how they can forget property tax to a large extent because of the massive tourism dollars.

We have the larges influx of federal tax dollar revenue of all time and it doesn't come close to solving the deficit, let alone the debt issue.

The real issue concerning the federal government is the inability to cut spending. DOD, Soc. security and health care are draining us dry and in the next 10 years its gonna get real.

No reason at all we can't cut these programs 20% across the board and get back to some semblance of sanity.

US hasn't balanced the budget since the Clinton years and its not going to happen now.

Yep we are screwed.
