I also found that very interesting how many lost parents at young ages.
I noticed that too. I wonder if part of it is selection bias. Folks who's parents died at "normal" ages are probably more likely to not comment because they don't think they have useful data.
Additionally, I wonder how many full time farmers like myself would have had to do something else for a primary career if dad lived longer. I'm by no means glad that Dad died when I was 18, but it made farming a much more obvious path for me than it would have been if he lived another 20 years. |
