Kansas
Worked for a guy in SW KS for a couple months, a few years ago that moved out there from somewheres else in the 90s. Didnt really get along with many of the other farmers or coops in the area, so he got his start convincing the older guys to put a ton of ground into CRP. Which worked out for him for a couple years because he would drill the crp and maintain it, but it really shot him in the foot as well as a lot of the community, that was getting ready to get started in the years after, because a lot of the “good” farmland was all in CRP making it harder for him or others to find land to farm to grow. I definitely think there’s a time and place for it, but in my experience there’s been a lot of good land put into crp, and a lot of land that should be crp that guys are still trying to farm.
