That’s what it is!!! I usually can’t detect it in new crop fall apples, but by January every apple in the store has the same funny off taste that doesn’t wash off. “Oily sweat” is about how I’d describe it.
Sometimes pealing the apple gets rid off it, but it’s usually deeper than that
