south central MN | My wife and I were there last week. Early in the day not crowed or traffic issues. Parking is $20 downtown but if you use the lot by the chairlift on the east side you pay at the kiosk and get a card to put on your dash so you can leave and come back. Take the drive up to Newfound Gap in the National Park it is only a 1-2 hour round trip to the TN NC. border where the Appalachian Trail crosses the road, we saw two groups pass through while we were there. They appreciate snacks you bring them. Do the Old Smokey Distillery tour a lot of moonshine history and seeing it made good samples. Skip the Sugarland one just crap put in moonshine to sell flavors of crap. Check the price to stay at Dollywood resort weekday is not bad. Take the chairlift or gondola up the mountain and have lunch at the top food is good there. Around 11 to 3 things get busy but traffic after 4 is not a problem. | |
