When legalized gambling first started spreading beyond Las Vegas and Atlantic City, the issue was in the press a lot. It was reported that legalized gambling had about a 75 year cycle in our nation, going back to the early colonies. I think we are about half way through that. I can see ugly things for those who are addicted to it, and carrying  a phone in their pocket. Plus, I can foresee a day when it gets rigged with a computer. We haven't had a big time point shaving scandal for a while, either. My prediction is it will complete its' cycle, but, 75 years is a long time. Length of cycle is not concrete, either.
