SW OH | I completely understand your dislike for unions. I have had the same thoughts and feelings about how they have ruined manufacturing in this country driving industry out of this country with high labor costs. I have been a member of the operating engineers local 18 for almost 25 years. I had second, third, and fourth thoughts about being in a union when I took this job. I had a few other options at the time but overall this one made more sense.
Local 18 has supported the Republican presidential candidate since Obama's first run. A very overwhelming amount of my fellow union members are conservative and vote as such.
