SW OH | Back when I used to haul logs I saw a few big ones. The biggest local log was a black oak. It was around 7 feet or so at the butt, was 40 feet long, straight with no limbs, and 4800 board feet by the Doyle scale.
2 other logs where delivered to a veneer mill where I hauled to. They were maybe 50 feet long, and 10 feet in diameter. They were escorted on 11 axle trucks. I don't remember what kind of tree they where, but they where black as coal and came from Africa.
