Manola,Ab, Ca | I don’t know what the mill is paying. This wood is coming from crown land so the mill pays stumpage to the government and hires the contractors to harvest. I don’t even know the exact rate for hauling from this block as it changes depending on distance and route. This block was right on the highway and a relatively short haul so the rate will reflect that.
I don’t know what it would yield for dimensional lumber. I have been told there is roughly 50 cubic meters in a load depending upon test weight. lol.
There’s no shortage of wood around here. In fact the mills are pretty full, especially after all the fires last summer as they harvested a lot of salvaged wood and don’t pay stumpage for salvage wood. They should be profitable for the next few years. It might cause some supply issues down the road. I heard that around Edson that up to forty percent of timber was destroyed last year.
