I was 16, Dad drove all the way from Nebraska to New York city to visit my brother who was in college there in 1969.  Father, mother, me and my cousin 2 years younger than I went. 

When we were there my brother took us on the subway to places in NY.  I watched and remembered the subway entrances and exits.  That night my cousin and I decided to travel the subway by ourselves and see what NY was like at night.  Wow.  A 16 year old and 14 year old nieve Nebraska kids alone on the streets of NY.  I didn't even leave a written note in our room telling what we were doing and where we went.  Not sure I even had the address of our hotel with me or my brother's phone #.  God is good, we got back safe.  I never told Dad till 20 years later when we had a family gathering and were telling stories.
