Central Western VA Mountains | Took the afternoon off from work to take-in the eclipse. The lighting definitely dimmed, but not total darkness by any stretch.
It was an odd feeling at 3:15 pm-ish being out in it, knowing years ago an eclipse might trigger someone to think the world was coming to an end. My brother commented, centuries ago in some parts of the world, people were probably thrown off cliffs as a sacrifice to the “gods” and of course it worked - the sun came back out…
