Subject: RE: A Last Look At The Elevator

RR Valley, ND; MN native
A wood elevator in my Mom's hometown was torn down last year. Some pictures of the demo were on FB.

My hometown's elevator was sold and closed abt 15yrs ago I think. New owners never did anything with it and a few years ago it changed hands again. Some of the equipment in there was removed and sold recently but I have no clue what they will do with it. Its a poured concrete and pretty large. Dates from about 1950 and also has a decent sized steel building attached and 2 big bins that were built about 1980.

At one time there was rail service but that ended in the early 60s and everything went by truck. Apparently the last active owners coop (who own several elevators in the area towns) were not able to keep it profitable so it was closed. The farms in the nearby area have to haul a minimum of 10 miles. Most of the BTOs around have their own bin site and probably haul direct to the city.
