Subject: RE: Hernia repair

Lancaster County, Pa.
I had two inguinal hernia repairs., one on each side. The first one was 12 years ago, they did that one the old fashioned way. The second one was two months ago, they did that one robotically. ( Not really sure of the difference between robotic and laparoscopic.). Initial recovery was better with the robotic surgery. Much better. After my first surgery i didn't walk stairs fir 3 days even on pain killers. Second time all i took was over the counter stuff and that was more for swelling than pain relief. Overall length of recovery wasn't much different either way. The surgeon did not seem to think there would be much difference in the quality of the repair either way. If i had to do it again it would be robotic.
