| I use a system called Dahua with a 16 port NVR (network video recorder) powered by POE (power over ethernet). I run the cable from the NVR (inside the house) to the camera(s). Biggest part of the job is running and hiding the cables. Learning the NVR software is a chore as well. You can buy your CAT 5 or 6 cable in bulk and make your own ends to connect the NVR to the cameras. The best part about it when your done is that the camera records everything on your NVR. You don't pay a fee to anyone. You can set the camera to record faces, license plates or even if something has moved. If you want later, you can also connect to the internet for viewing on the phone or a remote location. | |
