Nw Iowa | You don’t understand too much rain here. Crop will be okay here eventually if weather straightens out but not great. Too much rain reduces our yields. Not complaining, not crying, not stirring the pot, just how it is here. We will report better than expected if rest summer goes good, but not the 250 bu corn yields we have had last couple of years. Replants, thin stands and big holes the first or second week of June just don’t make the big yields. We just run out of time here. When you go from 108 day or 110 day to 98 day planted late you only have so much potential. Our bottom ground is usually what makes the record yields. Other issue is slow start and uneven stands, just doesn’t contribute to record yields. That is our area which goes from I90 south this year into top two tiers of Iowa counties. Not going to move market on its own. | |
