Glad to see you were brave enough to touch the SS issue on here.
I’m eligible, just not taking it yet. Never really thought it would be here when I got to this age anyway.
I saw people 40 years ago receiving SS that O know didn’t need it. Some people do. Some just have bad luck with health and etc. They need to be taken care of with a minimum standard of living. Those that achieved success and have to means to support themselves after retirement should not be receiving SS.
If we had that system set up that was we would all pay less SSTax while we’re working.
If you think we have slackers now, just implement your ideas and see how many slackers we'd have then.




No kidding. This thread is just chock full of stupid ideas about SS.


So here’s another (unpopular) one: childless people should not collect SS. We all know it’s a system funded by the next generation paying for the previous one, so childless people aren’t “paying in” like parents do. Also childless people didn’t have the expenses of raising children, so should have been able to save for their own retirement. The people that lived it up with no kids and no assets or savings have nobody to blame but themselves when they can’t support themselves in their old age.
