Good answer, but I'd still ask the family before I scrapped it, unless it is beyond repair.
Even if it is beyond repair, you never know what their final decision will be on it until they get to that point.
Get it out of sight from everyone, keep it underwraps until they ask about it. Even if they say in the next few days/weeks to scrap it, I would absolutely hold off. Give them time to process, be prepared to hold on to it for a year if need be.
I know I sure as hell would rather tell my best friend a year from now "Yep, I still have it. I couldn't scrap it until I know for sure that's what you want" instead of "Damn man, it's gone" when he comes to you one day and says he wished he'd kept it. |
