| A level of 6 is already on the high side of things but like Headland said the change from baseline is also important. With a higher baseline and what I would consider a significant change I would be begging my urologist for biopsies. The experience of having the biopsies done is highly variable. Some report it to be no big deal while others find it to be fairly uncomfortable. Regardless, the information garnered from the biopsies will plot the course for any necessary treatment. Treatment depends on the type of cancer found as well it's location. Treatment can range from simply continuing to monitor to a prostatectomy. Prostate cancer is generally not deadly when it is managed appropriately. Dragging ones feet on annual PSA tests, not following a urologists advice or avoiding the biopsies can create a situation where it can become metastatic and deadly. | |
