NW TX Panhandle
200 gpm divided by 40 acres, gives you 5.0 gpm/acre. 5.0 gpm/ac is actually a fairly good rate of irrigation capacity, for a lot of irrigated farm ground. We would love to have that type water available. Our water is getting down to 3.0 to 4.0 gpm/ac (or less) in a lot of the U.S. western region irrigated growing areas. Not unusual to make a 7 day loop to apply 1" here. One thing to be aware of about your well, will it produce 200 gpm over a given amount of time. From the time you start the well will it pump 200 gpm until the time you are finished pumping? Most wells do, occasionally one won't. The water source has to be able to produce a reliable & consistent flow rate while being pumped.
