NW IA | That is frustrating, especially with the OG in there to help.
For some reason there have been times when I've had to over-rule my baler's moisture tester in alfalfa. "Hand feel" or twist testing has sometimes indicated that the hay is dry and the tester doesn't agree.
We got ours up on Monday after a week of heavy dew and frequent sprinkles. It's really nasty when the dew doesn't burn off until 1 or 2 pm.
I am convinced that it wouldn't have happened without the rotary rake. Soft fluffy windrows, and I can risk raking when the top of the wind-row is quite a bit drier without losing leaves. 95% alfalfa.
The forecast here gets drier after a 29% chance this morning. | |
