Comparing a field with a long history of manure and a field that's had 1 application is like comparing apples and oranges. The way I read it, the first field is starving for Nitrogen clearly not enough applied. On stubble a 180 shot of spring anhydrous up front would probably made the new farm look similar to the second farm.
