Let’s keep having fun! (I’ll need the practice also)

The biggest grain bin on our farm is 70,000 bushel. Based off of volume and 56 lb/bu corn.

We’ve grown various types of corn over the years. One year, we grew white corn, which had 60 lb/bu test weight, and according to our scale we put 75k bushel in that bin.

Last year, we grew a high starch food grade corn that had a test weight of 51 lb/bu. According to our scale we could only fit 63k bushel in the bin.

Test weight is a measure of bulk density, how many pounds of corn in a given area

Of course, 2 kernels of the same size with different weights will have different yield since corn is sold by the pound. That’s all test weight tries to quantify
