Back when i went to college i went with a gov't loan 0 interest until 6 months out of college then payed it off with money saved, keeping in mind your kid doesn't have a lot to his name and the parents income is low is helpfull in getting more 0 interest money. Not sure why they think the parents income should matter since the one getting the loan is pretty much 18 and out on their own now.
