Subject: RE: Drying grain in super sacks

Southeast WI
If it's organic not unusual to have high weed seed banks. Also possible in conventional but there's herbicide options available there to help out - I have only had to use buctril once in my conv rye seed field but it happens. And yes high plant rates help a bunch but if it doesn't grow fast in spring you can still have annual weeds.

Bottom line if super sacks have been heating and he asked now it's prob too late to fix it but at least he can try as others have said. I combined my rye seed yesterday and as a hedge we dropped it all in the cart and later today will layer it in one of our hopper bottoms which should mix and help it dry a bit more. This is clean crunchy rye seed but can't be too careful for seed. Heat is bad.
