Chaffee, Western New York | Ask yourself what you have done to prepare for when it happens to you. You might beat the charges but how do you survive the process? Imagine waking up in the middle of the night and they are on you in bed. You hear your dog being repeatedly shot. Your sat down in handcuffs in your yard the family in whatever they went to bed in. Your kids are crying and getting yelled at, the cops bring them over to say goodbye as they are going to CPS and the cops taunt you with "you never see them again". Everything is being trashed in your house. Papers, guns, safe, old phones removed. All your property, cars, bank accounts, credit cards, identification paperwork is seized and your properties are now evidence and trespassers will be charged. You demand to know what's going on, ask to see a warrant and later find that has earned you a resisting arrest charge. You spend the next few days in your underwear and handcuffs getting yelled at dragged around the police station and transported to jail.
A week later it's "All a big misunderstanding" but you still don't have your paperwork back, your bloated dog is a ball of maggots, your freezer has been running with the door open, people ask "who did you rat out to get out?" Your kids getting harassed and have state councilors asking questions about their mental health. Your wife wants a divorce, she doesn't feel safe in the house and stays at her sister's. You get stopped by every cop that sees you asking what you're up to. You have a lawyer bill that looks like a new combine and sprayer.
My wrong address SWAT raid went better than ^that but I know people who have lived it. I'd take a few broken bones over "good police work" any time.
